How to Maintain a Clean Home with Pets: 7 Key Tips

by Vimi Shukla | Sep 25, 2024 | Pet Grooming

Pets are the best. But let’s be honest. They can also turn your home into a bit of a mess. You’ll face a few challenges, from the smell of wet dogs to house training a puppy and dealing with teething.

But don’t worry! Here are some easy ways to keep your home fresh and organized while enjoying all the joy pets bring. Here are 8 tips to help you out:

1.Groom Regularly

Don’t wait until your house smells like a kennel to groom your pet. Stick to a monthly grooming schedule to keep your pet and home clean. Regular baths can do the trick if you have a small pet or a designated pet cleaning area

2. Storage

Pets come with a lot of stuff. Keep their toys and items in stylish bins to stay organized without sacrificing your home’s look. You’ll be more likely to tidy up if the bins look good in your space.

3. Seal the Food

Storing pet food in its original bag might seem convenient, but it can make your home smell. Use a sealed bin to keep the food fresh and the smell contained.

4. Pet-Friendly Fabric

If your pets love lounging on the furniture, consider the type of fabric. Cotton and linen can absorb odors, while polyester and polypropylene are better options.

5. Wash Pet Toys

Just like you wash your towels and sheets, wash your pet’s toys regularly. Some can go in the dishwasher, others in the washing machine. Washing pet toys helps keep odors at bay.

6. Get the Right Vacuum

Pet hair is a given. Invest in a good vacuum designed for pet hair, like the Dyson Ball Animal Upright Vacuum, to easily tackle all the shedding.

7. Washable Flooring

Not all pet messes can be vacuumed. If you don’t have hardwood floors, consider washable rugs. If your pet has an accident, you can toss it in the washing machine.

I hope these tips help you keep your home pet-friendly and fresh!
